Unique tools, highly professional standards and indespensible within specialist gynaecology and obsterics

Negin Nasrallah,
Trainee in Obst & Gyn. Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark:

"The first 6 months of my education as a specialist doctor was frustrating due to my lack of knowledge of the suturing of post partum lacerations.

I read a great deal of theory regarding lacerations as a young doctor but lacked the practical training. Each teacher had their own way of classifying and suturing lacerations and this did not make things easier for me.

I gained access to GynZone after 6 months and then worked through all the modules, read about theory and saw the animations and videos. GynZone have created an excellent balance between animations and videos and their unique website is indispensible for both young doctors and experienced colleagues.

As a young specialist doctor I used the website every time I was called on to the maternity ward for the evaluation and suturing of a laceration. I am now halfway through my specialist studies and I actively use GynZones website, currently for teaching new specialist colleagues or medical students who are with me on my duty roster.

It is my duty as a health professional to keep up to date and use the latest knowledge and technology to ensure the best treatment for my patients. This is possible by using the online tools supplied by GynZone.

The website has been created by the country's leading experts and adheres to international guidelines. I can count on a highly professional standard.

Unique tools; E-learning is here to stay and is the way ahead."

User-friendly with highly professional benefits

Hanne Brix Westergaard, Consultant Obstetrician, PhD, Hillerød Hospital, Denmark:

"In the spring of 2009, the department of obstetrics at Hillerød Hospital in Denmark decided to implement a project among midwives with special focus on diagnostics and the suturing of lacerations related to child birth.

Therefore, all of the departmental midwives at Hillerød Hospital took part in GynZones online course, as well as supplementing this with a workshop focusing on anatomy, diagnostics and the suturing of perineal lacerations with the aid of medical models.

The online course module is elegantly constructed, user-friendly in its electronic configuration and contains a wealth of information of highly professional and educational value. It is constructed logically with a concise assessment of the anatomy, diagnostics of the various types of tears and the suturing of 1st to 4th degree lacerations.

It is easy to move around in the system, enabling one to login to the constituent element one wishes to investigate in detail. The individual midwife can continuously update her knowledge by using the online module.

At the same time, the modules present the possibility of creating a daily and open interdisciplinary dialogue regarding diagnostics and the suturing of perineal lacerations. The individual midwife can continuously update her knowledge by using the online module.

At the same time, the modules present the possibility of creating a daily and open interdisciplinary dialogue regarding diagnostics and the suturing of perineal lacerations.

Finally, GynZone also offers well-planned information for women with perineal lacerations and a comprehensive program with pelvic floor exercises formulated by a dedicated physiotherapist. This section is a delight for the patients whom I personally see in my department and often ask for more information regarding 'their' particular type of laceration.

Thanks so much for the workshop and a very fine and incredibly useful tuition for our departmental midwives and doctors. I have ONLY received positive feedback. THANKS!!!"

Excellent preparation for suturing in practice

Rune Lykke, Medical Doctor and trainee in Obst & Gyn at Aarhus University Hospital Skejby, Denmark:

"In the spring of 2010 four student doctors from the gynaecology and obstetrics department at Skejby Hospital participated in a half day suturing workshop at GynZone.

A couple of weeks before we obtained access to the online course modules which give a good, pedagogical introduction to the suturing of lacerations.

The course modules follow the degree of difficulty involved with lacerations. In the first module, one is introduced to the suturing of lacerations to the labia and the last module ends with the suturing of 4th degree lacerations.

The individual modules are constructed with chapters about: diagnostics, anaesthetic and suturing. One has the possibility to watch animated videos with both medical models and real patients.

The combination of the three types of video gives an excellent insight into the anatomy of the pelvic floor as well as preparing for suturing in reality. The workshop itself was conducted by Sara Kindberg who started with a short theoretical assessment of the various types of lacerations which was followed by practical exercises using medical models.

We were given the opportunity to try several different techniques under expert guidance. The tuition is enthusiastic and based upon the latest research. The course is practical in its orientation, which enables implementation of what is learnt in daily clinical work. The course can be recommended to all new doctors in the area of obstetrical specialisation".
